Acid reflux disease or also known as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a burning sensation in the chest due to stomach acid rising into the esophagus.
In this condition, the acid in the stomach goes into the esophagus. This occurs when there is damage to the valve that separates the stomach from the esophagus. As a result, you will feel a burning sensation in your chest and throat.
Acid reflux disease is often triggered by foods that are high in fat. Citrus fruits, chocolate, spices, caffeine, and alcohol can also cause acid reflux. This feeling is very uncomfortable and may make you unable to sleep. Of course, over-the-counter medications are always an option, but for a more natural remedy, try practicing yoga.
Yoga is able to prevent digestive problems because of the stress management techniques it has. When you do yoga, you not only practice perfecting the poses, but also learn breathing techniques and focus your mind. This combination will have a relaxing effect and change the “fight” or “flight” mode to “rest” and “digest” modes. The digestive system will work optimally in “rest” and “digest” modes.
