Dr. Defronzo, principal investigator of Medality’s FDA approved First-in-Human MVL Clinical Trial, also describes how insulin resistance, obesity and visceral fat play an important part in the development and evolution of type 2 diabetes. Early findings of the MVL clinical trial are briefly discussed.
Medality Medical Inc (“Medality” or the “Company”), an innovative medical device technology company, is pursuing a surgical solution to improve the lives of patients with Type 2 diabetes. The Company employs its patented HydraSolve T2DTM System to safely remove visceral fat from the patient’s mesentery in order to improve glycemic control of type 2 diabetes inflicted patients. To date, the Company’s System has been successfully utilized in nine mesenteric visceral lipectomy procedures (“MVL”) performed under a United States Food and Drug Administration (“FDA”) approved First-In-Human Clinical Trial (“Trial”). The Trial’s primary focus is to demonstrate that the MVL procedure is safe with a secondary focus of efficacy evidenced by improvement in the patient’s health.
