Fungal nail infections are common and frustratingly difficult to treat. Even the best anti-fungal agents like oral Itraconazole and Terbinafine have considerable recurrence rates after cessation of treatment. The use of an anti-psoriatic agent, acitretin, seems be be a novel way of increasing the effectiveness of the oral anti-fungals and also to reducing recurrences. This video looks at a recent study where acitretin was used successfully with oral itraconazole.
